ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid says the government is committed to the welfare of the journalist community.
The minister was chairing a committee meeting to review the matters pertaining to security of media houses and media persons in Islamabad on Friday. He said that security of the media houses and media workers is a priority of the government and further directed the authorities for ensuring their security.
He formed a sub-committee on the subject under the chairmanship of Information Secretary Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha. The meeting was briefed on the preparation of the bill for security and welfare of journalists.
Interior Minister Balighur Rehman and prime minister’s adviser on national history and literary heritage, Pakistan Broadcasters Association’s representatives, All Pakistan Newspapers Society, Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors and National Press Club attended the meeting.
