KARACHI: The Sindh government has made the decision to extend the special policing powers of Rangers in Karachi for another 90 days.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah signed a summary for the extension of powers of the paramilitary force on Thursday.
Sources privy to the development informed media that the senior leadership of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) had directed Murad Ali Shah to extend the special powers of Rangers in Karachi for another three months.
According to reports, the summary for extension was sent by the home minister.
The notification has extended the special policing powers of the paramilitary force. The special policing powers under Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997 allow Pakistan Rangers, Sindh to carry out raids and arrest suspects. The last extension to Rangers was given on October 18, 2016, which came to an end on Monday.
