NAROWAL/SIALKOT: Interior M
inister Ahsan Iqbal thoroughly lambasted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday for what he called incitement against the PML-N.
“A number of masqueraders came in the past to mislead the young, but the young rejected them and elected former Prime M
inister Nawaz Sharif,” he said addressing a youth convention of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) in Narowal.
He added that they could not place the keys of the destiny of 200 million people in an amateur’s hand.
Iqbal said, “A political leader read them stories of prosperity and development in India and Bangladesh, but he forgot that they had political stability in their country and as for corruption was concerned they were far ahead of us.”
He said if the skipper and Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed were sent to Europe or Japan, they would have led even those countries to devastation. He said Imran was the commander of destruction brigade in the country.
“Despite passage of four years, the PTI government could not build even a single metro project in the capital city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar,” he said.
Taunting at the cricketer-turned-politician, he said there was one good thing Imran was master at and that was collecting charity.
“So, if the PML-N got into power the next time, it will establish a ministry of charity for him,” he said adding that people have realised that the PTI chief was incapable of running the government which could be visible through the shrinking attendance at his public rallies.
He also said the China Pakistan Economic Corridor project will change the destiny of the country. NNI
Separately, the m
inister condemned the Indian shelling near the Sialkot border in which several civilians were killed and some others injured.
He was talking to reporters after visiting the injured at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Sialkot. Law M
inister Zahid Hamid al
so accompanied him.
The interior m
inister said that India was shelling the Sialkot border villages by violating the ceasefire agreement, adding that Pakistan would give a tit-for-tat response to India.
He said that India was resorting to unprovoked shelling just to divert the world’s attention from the Kashmir issue, as Pakistan had successfully highlighted the core issue at interna
tional forums. He made it clear that Pakistani security forces would provide due protection to it
s citizens.
He said that the armed forces of Pakistan had the capability to defend every inch of the motherland, besides, giving answer to the enemy in a befitting manner.
Hamid said the government had approved a multi-phased project of establishing special bunkers in Sialkot border villages which would enable the villagers to take shelter during Indian BSF shelling.
The m
inisters praised the high morale and state of preparedness of the valiant soldiers of
Punjab Rangers, who are selflessly contributing towards safer and peaceful Pakistan.
Later, they visited the Indian BSF shelling-hit Sialkot border villages in Charwah, Sucheetgarh and Harpal Sectors.
Both the m
inisters met people, especially the grieving families and expressed complete solidarity with them.
MNA Chaudhry Armaghan Subhani, MPAs Tariq Subhani, Chaudhry Ikram, Rana Afzal, Rana Liaqat Ali, Sialkot Deputy Commissioner Dr Farrukh Naveed and local senior officials of the
