LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif Tuesday presided over a high-level meeting to review progress on construction of shades on bus terminal, establishment of greenbelts and other development projects.
Expressing his anger over delay in execution of development projects, the chief minister reprimanded officials concerned, and said there was no justification of delay in provision of facilities to the people.
The departments concerned should be aware of their responsibilities and produce results, he said, adding that government officials should discharge their duties with diligence.
He said it was regrettable that bus shades had not been constructed on various roads in Lahore. He said delay in uplift projects had put a question mark on the performance of departments.
Adviser Khawaja Ahmed Hassan, Lahore Mayor Colonel (r) Mubashir Javaid, additional chief secretary, Punjab Horticulture Authority (PHA) vice chairman, Punjab Mass Transit Authority managing director, PHA DH, secretaries concerned and Lahore commissioner and deputy commissioner attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Japanese investors led by Morinaga Milk Industries President Michio Miyahara called on the chief minister on Tuesday.
The visiting delegation expressed keen interest to invest in several projects in Punjab. Michio Miyahara appreciated the chief minister for bringing transparency in development projects. He said that the chief minister had created conducive environment for investment, while infrastructure had been exceptionally improved in Punjab, making it one of the best provinces to invest in.
The chief minister maintained that transparency was the hallmark of polices of the provincial government and the government was promoting transparency in every filed to attract investors. He said the provincial government was providing every possible facility to foreign investors by dint of which several multinational companies were also investing in Punjab.
Provincial minister Sheikh Allauddin, MPA Saira Iftikhar and other officials concerned were also present among others.
Separately, Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique met Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister that Pakistan was marching towards its actual destination and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project would be a game changer for Pakistan.
He said that that the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government had ensured transparency in development projects and no one could raise a finger on transparency in uplift projects.
“Some political elements are hatching conspiracies against progress of the country but people have rejected their negative politics,” he said, and added that that people of Pakistan only want development and prosperity. He concluded by saying that no one would be allowed to create hurdles in the way of public service.
