ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday witnessed counter-terrorism exercises in People Liberation Army (PLA) training base located in Ku’erla (Korla).
The exercise included effective neutralisation of a terrorists’ base in remote mountainous regions, employing all the modern aerial and ground equipment, an ISPR news release stated.
Raheel Sharif appreciated PLA troops for their skills and enhanced abilities to counter all categories of terrorism. Army chiefs of Afghanistan and Tajikistan were also present to witness the exercise. Sharif was also invited to see the ‘Chinese military equipment display’.
Sharif arrived in Urumqi on a day long visit to China. He held meeting with Chief of Staff General Fang of PLA and discussed military relations, bilateral security cooperation and all dimensions of long term security of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
He also met with Xinkiang Party Secretary Zhang Chun Xian and discussed Pakistan-China bilateral relations and regional security issues with particular reference to CPEC project completion and security.
